What conditions can be treated with BBL?

  • Pigmented Lesions (e.g., freckles, age spots, melasma)
  • Vascular Lesions (e.g., small blood vessels, rosacea and other micro-capillary flushing conditions)
  • Acne
  • Skin laxity
  • Uneven Skin Texture
  • Unwanted Hair

What areas can be treated?
Any area of your body can be treated. The most popular treatments are on the face, neck, back of the hands, chest and shoulders.

Can you treat tanned skin?
Due to the amount of pigment or melanin that accompanies tanned skin, it is not recommended that a person have sun or tanning bed exposure in the area to be treated for a minimum of three weeks prior to treatment. If you are using a self-tanner, we recommended letting it fade for 7-10 days before treatment. If you have more questions, discuss them with your clinician.

How many treatments will I need?
All treatment plans are personalized based on your unique skin and level of improvement you desire, because of this the number of treatments required can vary significantly. Speak with your clinician to determine the right amount of treatments for you.

What will happen during the procedure?
Prior to treatment we will protect your eyes with safety shields or glasses. Once treatment begins you will briefly feel a warm sensation as the light is absorbed by the targeted areas. Some people associate this feeling with a light “rubber band snap”. The procedure may only take a few minutes, or up to a half hour depending on the area being treated and the type of procedure.

Will it be uncomfortable?
BBL™ is a noninvasive treatment that is completely safe and gentle. Usually there is no need for a topical anesthetic, however you may speak with your clinician regarding one if you are concerned about more sensitive areas.

What should I expect after the treatment?
Immediately after the treatment, you will experience some redness that will resolve within only a few hours. Pigmented lesions that have been treated will darken and flake off gradually over the next week. Treated skin will often feel smoother, with less noticeable fine lines and pores. Sunspots and uneven pigmentation will also begin to fade. Results may vary depending on your unique skin, area being treated and the number of treatments performed. Your clinician will provide you with all the necessary information for post treatment care.

How long will it take to recover?
There is virtually no downtime and in most cases you can return to work and even apply makeup immediately.

Will insurance cover this procedure?
Generally, phototherapy treatments, like other cosmetic treatments, are not covered by your insurance company. You may contact your provider for more information.
